The week of April 24-28, 2017, is a celebration of the success of the Supportive Living Program as an alternative living option for seniors as well as persons with physical disabilities. The theme for 2017’s Supportive Living Week is “Happiness is Ageless”. This is the 10th year of this celebration, sponsored by the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition. The focus is on living a healthy life: mind, body and soul.
Supportive Living communities provide the same services and amenities as assisted living: support for seniors who want to live independently, but need some help with the tasks of daily living. The one difference is that supportive living communities have a financial assistance program available for seniors who qualify, while assisted living communities do not. Supportive living apartments are for seniors who cannot live alone but do not requires constant care. Seniors live worry-free with a building and maintenance staff that take care of all home repair and up-keep. A wellness team provides 24-hour support, routine medication management and discreet personal assistance. Supportive living provides three meals a day, with housekeeping, laundry and transportation services also available.
Evergreen Senior Living has supportive living communities in Alton, Beardstown, Decatur, Normal, Lincoln (Castle Manor) Litchfield and Streator, Illinois. Our Decatur location also provides memory support at The Legacy. At Evergreen, we strive to reshape the idea of aging – we want our residents to live life to the fullest. We are interested in caring for more than the medical needs of our residents.
