Celebrate Supportive Living Week

The week of April 23-27 has been set aside to celebrate Supportive Living Week. This week recognizes the residents and staff members that make these communities thrive. The Supportive Living program is Illinois’ model of affordable assisted living, and falls under the purview of the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition (AALC). This program makes the assisted living lifestyle available to all persons through financial assistance.

The theme for 2018 is, “A Colorful Life”. This recognizes that everyone has their own past with their own story to tell. These different experiences are what make our supportive living communities so rich and full of life. Supportive Living Week applauds the diversity and various experiences of our residents.

Celebrations across Evergreen communities will be happening all week. Our supportive living communities can be found in Normal, Litchfield, Streator, Alton, Beardstown, Lincoln and Decatur. You can learn more about each location’s plans for celebration by calling and speaking with that individual team.

In the months leading up to Supportive Living Week, the AALC sponsors Wii Bowling and Flashback Trivia. Residents compete to earn bragging rights to be state champions. A visit to the capital of Springfield, Illinois will also be part of the week’s celebration.

Supportive living services include everything that assisted living does, with the added benefit of financial assistance where needed. Supportive senior lifestyle services include:

  • Medication management
  • Personal assistance with daily activities
  • Culinary services
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Transportation
  • Senior-focused activities and events
