Celebrating Mother’s Day and the Women Who Make Us Who We Are

Mother’s Day is here, and what better way to spend it than with the women who have made an impact on your life. Motherhood takes on many forms; even if they are not biological moms, this is a day to recognize and celebrate those who fulfill the role of shaping us into the person we are today.

  • Adoptive mom – You may not have physically carried your child, but that doesn’t change how you love them. Your unconditional love and sacrifices, care and support make a lifetime impact in your child’s life.
  • Stepmother – Marrying into a family has isn’t always easy. But even if you join a ready-made family, you still have a tremendous opportunity to build connections and have a special relationship with your stepchildren.
  • Aunt or Grandma – Even if you aren’t the mom, many family members treat nieces, nephews, or grandchildren like their own. These women invest their time and attention and become an important role in the child’s development.
  • Foster mom – Choosing to take in a child and love them unconditionally is a rewarding part of the fostering process. Caring for a child in foster care is not always easy, but your actions can make a lasting difference in their life.
  • Mother-in-law – No matter how many jokes revolve around this type of relationship, a mother-in-law is a unique relationship. Whether it is parenting advice, cooking lessons, or showing family traditions, they can be part of our lives as much as our own mother.

To all the moms and mom-type figures in our lives, whether you are a teacher, neighbor, family friend, or any other relation, you influence a child’s life in more ways than you can possibly imagine. Through your love and support, you bring light to our lives, and we’re grateful for all of you this Mother’s Day.
