Holiday Gifts Your Senior Will Love

Let’s face it, shopping for your senior can sometimes be challenging. We’ve made it a little easier this year, with some fun suggestions below.

Music. Melodies can bring back memories as nothing else can. Whether it’s a favorite solo artist or a big band sound, consider downloading some of your senior’s favorites on their phone or iPad. If this is a bit too much, you can simply make sure your senior has a radio tuned into the local station playing holiday music!

Tea-time. Flavored teas can offer comfort and warmth throughout the season. And they are small and easy to keep in a room or drawer. Think about fun flavors such as cinnamon, ginger, chai, peppermint, and orange. Look into special holiday blends as well as classic black and green tea favorites.

Frame it! Sure, we love digital pictures. However, seniors want to see that picture printed out in a nice frame – not on their phone or iPad. This season, get that family photo framed, wrap it beautifully, and give it your senior. They will cherish it!

Sachets. Seniors love scented sachets to place in drawers or among layers of clean clothing. These can be purchased packets or homemade cloth bags that contain lovely fragrances such as lavender or rose. Sachets bring about smiles as they are often reminders of past practices and simpler times.

Yes, socks! Can one ever have enough soft, fleecy socks that feel good on the toes and keep your feet warm in the winter? Most seniors think they need more and enjoy them immensely! Bring on the fancy, fleecy footwear – and especially the kind with non-slip bottoms, even better!

Large Print, Please. Magazines, Sudoku, and Crosswords…they’re all great. But they’re even better when one can see them! This year purchase large print editions to make it easier and more fun for your senior. Wow, what a difference it makes!

Help.Perhaps your senior wants to give others cards or gifts this season, but they can’t get out or cannot make it happen. Offer to shop, fill out cards, or deliver treats to those that your senior cares about. Playing Santa for your senior may make them happier than you could ever imagine.
