If you’re new to the Normal community or simply curious about what it has to offer your senior, get ready for some good news! There are abundant fun things to try, interesting places to visit, and friendly residents to greet. Your loved one will feel welcome and safe here, and you’ll have plenty to do when you come to visit! Here are some ways you and your loved one can enjoy Normal and the surrounding area:
Enjoy the Outdoors. Nothing beats taking a quick walk on Constitution Trail, a 37-mile joint venture between Normal and Bloomington. You and your senior will experience all the beautiful sounds, smells, and sights of Illinois’ natural environment. Additionally, Twin Groves Wind Farm is another outside opportunity located in Ellsworth, IL, that would be enjoyable for people interested in renewable energy or engineering. Visitors can learn about the technology and get an up-close view of the massive blades.
Enjoy Entertainment. For a trip down memory lane, take your senior to the Normal Theater. It was built in 1937 and restored to its original condition. Check out their updated showtimes to discover what film is playing. In addition, the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts offers several theatre, band, and jazz performances. They post all of the spectacular upcoming events on their calendar. Feel like watching some sports instead? Check out the game schedules at the Corn Crib or Redbird Arena.
Enjoy History. Normal has much to offer history lovers, too. At the Prairie Aviation Museum in Bloomington, you’ll find displays and exhibits honoring military and civilian aviation. You and your senior can also head to Ryburn Place—a Route 66 icon built in 1930. Because of the renovation, you can now enter the building and step into the shoes of a Route 66 traveler. Lastly, the McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington has two rotating galleries and five permanent exhibits that tell the important story of the county.
There is much to appreciate in Normal, and we know we’re blessed to be a part of such a lovely town. Campuses of both Evergreen Place and Evergreen Village have a great deal to highlight in addition to their optimal location. To contact Evergreen Place, call (309) 451-9355; to reach Evergreen Village, call (309) 452-7300.
