Celebrating Easter

Celebrating holidays recently has looked different than prior experiences, but it doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy them. While restrictions may be loosening up, we’re not completely in the clear, so we should still be cautious. With the Easter holiday approaching, here’s a quick list of reminders on how to stay safe and still celebrate with family.

  • Connecting through virtual platforms allows us to engage with family and enjoy Easter. These virtual calls don’t just have to be conversation-based; you can play games, tell stories, even share a meal virtually!
  • Being safe around family is everyone’s goal, but it does not always mean you are not at risk. Even within small groups, wearing a mask is very important, especially when you are not able to maintain six feet of social distance. Keeping your gathering outside when possible will help decrease the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Make sure to follow CDC guidelines by washing your hands and using hand sanitizer, particularly if eating is involved.
  • You can still keep traditions, but with a new twist. If every year you dress in your Sunday best and go to church, this year, dust off your favorite church clothes and stream a choir program or church service.
  • Festive crafts like dying eggs or making wreaths can be a fun way to celebrate with your family. And anything you create can be shared with faraway loved ones through the mail.
  • Do your littles have an annual Easter egg hunt? Host a virtual hunt and hide eggs that can be easily seen over Zoom or FaceTime when cousins or friends can’t be together. Or invite faraway family via video stream to your hunt at home.
  • Snail mail is always fun to receive and can bring joy to someone’s day. Send Easter cards to the loved ones who you are not able to see on the holiday.
