National Assisted Living Week Celebration – Orland Park

National Assisted Living Week Celebration

National Assisted Living Week is a time of celebration for communities to highlight the incredible care given and friendships made through assisted living. Even during this uncertain time of a pandemic, we used a little creativity to help our residents and families enjoy safely.

We kicked off the week with a surprise resident card shower and family car parade. Families went all out with car decorations, honking horns, and upbeat music. Even our director Carol participated by leading the parade on her bike. Another highlight was Senior Splash Day: complete with a seafood lunch, shark blood ice cream floats, and a dunk tank. Throughout the week, we had exciting performers and special meals, like our alfresco Italian dinner evening. With the wonderful weather we have had, our residents were able to get a little golf putting done and enjoy donuts on our hole-in-one Saturday to close out the week.

As we all find safe ways to interact with our loved ones and socially distance during activities, we were thrilled to see smiling faces and increased activity levels during this memorable week. Little touches like our resident family photo slide show in the lobby brought much joy. Hats off to all the assisted living communities who work together to bring the best care possible to so many people.
